Ribbon Cutting
The Anoka County Historical Society has purchased the Ticknor Hill Bed and Breakfast, an historic 1867 property at 1625 Third Avenue in Anoka, marking a major step in the organization’s ongoing effort to preserve and share the county’s history. The society officially became the new owner of Ticknor Hill on May 1, 2026.
To commemorate this occasion, ACHS will host a ribbon cutting with the Anoka Area Chamber of Commerce on September 10 at 4:30 pm. An open house will follow until 7 pm. with tours, refreshments, prizes, and historical shenanigans.
A Ticknor Tour
A tour of Ticknor Hill steps inside a living timeline of architecture, family life, and Anoka history—not simply a glimpse at an old house.
You're about to embark on a journey through time, to experience Anoka's history inside a home that evolved along with the town. Built in 1867, nine years after Minnesota became a State, Ticknor Hill stood one third of its size on three times of its land.
Through those same doorways, passing the same bannister, you'll step in the footsteps of the people who built libraries, ran drug stores, and ate a sandwich under a tree.
We cannot guarantee your tour will take you to the bed and breakfast rooms on the second floor, as they may be occupied by guests. If this is the case, we have images for you to enjoy (or a nights stay of your own to make!)
Every reservation helps preservation. This national register property is owned and operated by the Anoka County Historical Society, a 501c3 nonprofit.
